PROGRAMS FOR 2011-2012
The Southern California Camellia Society meets each month October-April, excluding December. Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month. (3rd Thursday in November.)
THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO ALL MEETINGS
Location: Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, Ayres Hall South of I-210 at 301 N. Baldwin Ave, Arcadia.
Time: 7:15 PM. Culture Session and Featured Speaker program. Refreshments and a Camellia Plant Raffle conclude each meeting.

Our speakers will be a Dad and Daughter team, Mel Belcher and Carol Stickley, who will revisit the holistic approach to camellia culture. There will also be some tips about getting prize winning blooms to the shows!

Tom Nuccio of Nuccio's Nursery will be our speaker.
February 23, 2012
The February meeting will feature a visual and aural presentation of some elements of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The presenters are Master Teacher and SCCS member Akiko Horiuchi assisted by SCCS member Hiromi Sato. We are fortunate that Hiromi secured special permission to have this partial demonstration given by Ms. Horiuchi for our benefit outside of the normal venues

Dr. Martin Stoner will talk and present pictures about "Camellias at Home in Japan and China." Martin will have attended the International Camellia Congress in China in January and have a lot of new information about what's happening in the camellia world in Asia.

David MacLaren, one of our SCCS Board members, has arranged a tour of the recently opened Japanese Garden at the Huntington for us. We'll meet a bit earlier to take advantage of the light. More details will be provided later.
